To combat the risk associated with widespread proliferation of small arms and light weapons, DDG provides firearms safety education to firearm owners and dependants to encourage safe behaviour when handling and storing firearms in order to prevent accidents and foster a wider ethos of responsibility.

Furthermore, DDG helps communities produce and install safe storage devices for firearms. These devices reduce the risk of theft and restrict accessibility for children and other groups who might be vulnerable to accidents. They also help to introduce a systematic firearms-management regime into communities.
