The police in post-conflict societies has often been weakened in their role as guarantor of law and order, and frequently community members hosts an inherent distrust towards the police force. In order to improve safety, DDG – in conjunction with our institutional partner DRC – works to strengthen the relationships between the police and communities through advocacy activities and establishment and training of community based policing committees who facilitates improved communication and cooperation.
