deminers working in the field

Landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) continue to pose a threat to civilians and communities even after a conflict has ended, and the warring parties have signed peace agreements.

The Danish Demining Group (DDG) is the Mine Action Unit within the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and focuses on mine action and other armed violence reduction programming in 20 countries around the world.

The majority of DDG’s staff are locally hired in each of the countries it works in, this helps to ensure ownership, participation and generation of locally-based solutions to address the problems and legacies of conflict, war, and armed violence.
