On Saturday 22 January 2011, a local Danish Refugee Council employee, along with a driver and casual worker, has been detained in Mogadishu by Security Forces from the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia.
It has not been possible to communicate with our staff members since that time, and the DRC is not informed of any official charges. The employee was engaged in a personal errand at the time of the arrest. The DRC have been assured by TFG officials that three men are being treated well.
The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Mogadishu in Somalia since 2007, as one of few aid agencies active in a region characterized by insecurity and unrest. The DRC aims at providing emergency assistance to internally displaced people and other vulnerable groups.
