Mine clearing accident in Afghanistan

The Danish Demining Group has suffered a serious accident on Thursday where two national members of staff were killed during the clearance of a minefield in the Panjshir Valley

On Thursday 18th August at approximately 09:00 Afghan time Danish Demining Group suffered a serious accident during the clearance of a minefield in the Panjshir Valley as a result of which two National members of staff were killed.

All operations country wide were suspended immediately. A thorough investigation is currently being conducted to identify the cause and identify any necessary corrective action.

DDG has offered its condolences to the family and friends of those involved and provided all possible support to them during this difficult time.

Despite this tragedy DDG remains committed to working towards an Afghanistan free of the scourge of Mines and other explosive remnants or war.
